Udinese - Chievo Verona
Posted on 4:50 AM by Lionel Messi
Udinese midfielder Giampiero Pinzi is confident the team can continue their fine home form at the expense of Chievo Verona today.
The Bianconeri, currently ninth in Serie A, have won five of their last six outings at the Stadio Friuli, and Pinzi believes the team are more than capable of making it six wins from seven against his former employers.
The 29-year-old said: “If only we could always play at home.
“The Friuli gives us wings and our results there speak for themselves. We are hoping to extend our positive run on Thursday.
“We have worked intensely during the Christmas break and we are looking forward for the first game of the year.”
And Pinzi is looking forward to facing former side Chievo, who he left for Udinese in the summer.
He added: “My two years at Chievo were very important to me and helped me grow to become a better player.
“With respect to last season Chievo now have more quality but the mentality remains the same, that of being aggressive, to battle until the last second and to help each other out.
“In order to beat them we will have to show the same determination and concentrate from start to finish.”
Udinese slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Serie A title contenders Lazio prior to the Christmas break, while Chievo Verona held high-flying Juventus to a surprise 1-1 draw.
